Written on a bus, back from the Electric Picnic Festival in Ireland, where Markus 'Fred' Scholl spent three nights of DJing, this is a leftover from 2017. Having a huge collection of traditional punk and post punk, the track is heavily influenced by Elvis Costello's second record "This Year's Model". Hence the drum intro which is borrowed from "This Years Girl". Raging about the company of members having determined the way you are by sitting in the Family Tree, Markus gets by with a little help from his friend, Nils A. Crauser. Nils is the singer and guitar player in Loony, the band Fred has spent most of his student years with. Little wonder to hear the Arctic Monkeys and other sharp Brit outfits coming through.
lyrics
Family Tree
Crazy birds
Sit in those trees
Won't prolly fall off
If you're shaking them leaves
Would not come down
If you'd orange them crowns
Would not fly away
If you'd timbered them all
Cause they can't really die,
Cause they can't be wiped out
They will stick to your mind
Forever 'll be in your blood
Not passing, returning
In past tense recurring
In scenes everlasting
Accomplish nothing
Taking a place in that tree
Supposedly your family....
Grey sheep run
Their course to look white
But soon they are black
Not only at night
To single one out
That is pure and divine
You have to look close,
You have to inquire
Cause they can't change their clothes
And they wait for that trim
And they don't really mind
Looking almost like skinned
Not protesting
Not kicking
Not biting
But licking
The hand of a fat man
Accepting his fucked plan
